Why there is no displacement type loading in Free Line Loading

In Sofiload, there are 6 displacement type loadings in free point loading (POIN), and 1 displacement type loading in free area loading (AREA).

But why there is no displacement type loading in Free Line Loading (LINE)?
What if I want to define a unform displacment on the line support?

Hello,

yes, there is currently no type “displacement” for line load. As I know the reason is, that it would need an own algorithm for lines or beams which is not implemented now. But it should be on the wish list.

I would do the following in case you want to apply a displacement on a line. You could define bedded quads with a small thickness along the line and apply the displacement on the quads. If quads and structural lines are connected the displacement is also applied to the line.

Adrian

Thanks Adrian for the explanation and tip.

I hope to see the displacement type loading in LINE in the near future release.

@Adrian
I applied

LC NO TYPE
41 -
AREA REF NO TYPE P1
SAR 301 WZ -10

But it shows
“Error: Quad displacement load in LC 41 only applicable on bedded quads!”

Hi Sean,

yes, I mentioned in the previous message that the quads has to be bedded. It does not work with non bedded quads. The message should not appear if the quads are bedded.
