Theoretical basis of moving spring

Hi,

After going through the manuel in ASE concerning the MOVS- moving spring, I was not able to find information related to the theoretical basis of this procedure, i.e. how it works. Is it possible to provide information regarding the theory behind this feature, or direct me to appropriate sources?
