Initial conditions in dynamic analysis

I am performing a transient nonlinear dynamic analysis for a ship impact study and I cannot find a way to properly impose an initial velocity to the node representing the ship mass, which is linked to the structure with a non linear spring. How can these initial conditions of the system be introduced for the dynamic analysis?
