I would like to change permanently the concrete (gam_c) and reinforcing (gam_b) material safety factor for seismic design of QUAD elements (BEMESS module) either in an .ini file like (en_199x-200x.ini) or in aqua with TVAR. Is it possible?
In Aqua with TVAR I can change only for ULTI Design and not for ACCI (accidental) or EARQ (seismic design).
I know I can use MAT SC1 SC2 SS1 SS2 record in BEMESS, but I am seeking for a permanent solution and change the default settings.
Hello,
for TVAR only the material safeties for ULS ULTI are defined. The material safeties for seismic design are fixed by the programs for the SSD tasks → e.g. Design SEIS (Area elements). Here the material safeties are stored in the input definition of BEMESS. In the case of a TEDDY definition please define the safeties in record MAT:
e.g. MAT SC1 1.5 SC2 1.5 SS1 1.15 SS2 1.15
in connection with CTRL TYPE ACCI
The accidental and the seismic design differ only in terms of the material safeties.
BEMESS uses without definition for CTRL ACCI the material safeties for accidental design.
In the INI file these material safeties are defined in the line SCM5 for seismic:
e.g. en199x-200x.ini
SCM5=1.50,1.50,1.50,1.15,1.15,1.00 # EN 1998-1:2010 5.2.4 (2)
with
SCM# safety factors:
[SC1,SC2,SCS,SS1,SS2,SSS[,0.0,SCLASS1,SCLASS2,SCLASS3,…]
where:
SC1 = minimum safety factor concrete
SC2 = maximum safety factor concrete (if different to SC1)
SCS = safety factor concrete for shear
SS1 = safety factor reinforcing steel
SS2 = safety factor prestressing steel
SSS = safety factor structural steel (composite)
However, these definitions are only used by the SSD tasks for seismic.
With kind regards
