Envelope of the envelopes (combinations combination)

Is it possible for Sofistik to calculate (Teddy?) an envelopes envelope? I mean for example three combinations (envelopes) were calculated and results where saved as COMB-1, COMB-2 and COMB-3 using unique combination/load case numbers. Then the one (the most adverse) is wanted, by means of:

COMB-0-max “=” max(COMB-1, COMB-2, COMB-3), or
COMB-0-min “=” min(COMB-1, COMB-2, COMB-3)

Is it possible to code such a scenario?

Hello Bogdan,

yes, it is possible.
Please note our official MAXIMA example maxima_intermediate-superposition.dat (TEDDY → File → Examples → maxima)

Here the combinations and superpositions are done as follows:

  • first MAXIMA action combination ULS fundamental with resulting load cases LC 11xx
  • second MAXIMA another action combination ULS fundamental with resulting load cases LC 12xx
  • third MAXIMA for determination of the most unfavourable resulting load case for MAX and MIN from action combinations 1 and 2
