ELLA calc

Hi!

I am designing portal, frame bridge in 2D. Model is created by beam element with 1m width. I assigned axis to my top slab and I want to calc vehicles in ELLA. I got this error:

”The complexity of a geometric axis for plane frames exceeds the admissible limits for users and programmers in many cases.”

It is quite easy model and I am wondering what it refers to…

Hi Andrzej,

please see ELLA manual chapter 2.7 - Limits-
*The application of ELLA for plane frames or shear walls provides so many ambiguities, that we do not support this feature currently.
*
That’s exactly what is written in the error message, you cannot use ELLA for a 2D frame model.
You may use a load stepping approach instead, or make a full 3D system
