Hello, I have created the beam (notch HEB 300; area in the centre HEB 600) with a lot of structural surfaces (sar). If I calculate the deflection on a single-span beam (only from HEB 600) as a comparative calculation, I get significantly different results under the same load than with my modelling with structural surfaces (sar). Does anyone know why this could be?
What do you mean with “significantly different results”? Higher displacements? Or lower? 10% oder 30%?
I can only guess: I would expect that system with SARs give higher displacements because there are effects at the cross-sectional jumps that cannot be reproduced with a pure bar system.
Besides the support conditions must be identically which I cannot check here.
