Hello,
I am currently working on modeling two overlapping, dry-jointed reinforced concrete rings that are prone to gapping under bending stresses. I would like to accurately capture the separation behavior between the rings.
Aside from using contact springs, what other modeling approaches are available to realistically represent the interface behavior between the rings?
Thank you in advance.
Hello @BinOmran
I think the easiest way to define contact between two area elements is described in the following two topics:
Hi All,
My name is Flavio and I’m a beginner user of Sofistik. As shuch, I’m still learning the general philosofy and how the software works.
I created a simple model of an aluminium structure. The structure is a folded sheet supported on one edge on an aluminium angle.
My aim is to model a compression only constraint (could be either area constraint or line constraint) between the angle and the folded sheet.
In the image below there is the model I created so far. Everything is working fine,…
Hi,
I am trying to couple quads that have been created in SOFiPLUS. I have managed to do it in the past but cant get it to work anymore. The workflow is as follows:
Create calculation model from SOFiPLUS
Use SOFIMSHA to couple the quads with the following code:
+prog sofimsha urs:31.1
head Quad coupling
SYST REST
SPRI NO QREF NA 202 NE 1016 CP 1e9 CRAC 0
end
However I am receiving the following error:

Could someone please help me debug the problem. I have also attached example…
To use this method, you have to make sure that the coupled elements have similar mesh
With best regards,
Martin
