I apply a harmonic load to a cantilever beam starting at t = 5 s, yet a small decaying vibration is already present at the beginning of the time-step analysis. The self-weight is defined as a primary load case and should represent the initial equilibrium state. What could be the reason for this initial oscillatory response?

Apparently the self weight is not the only loadcase which is active at t=0. Maybe you have additional masses in the system which also need to be considered in the PLC.
