Thick plate theory and shear deformation

Hello,

I am currently modeling a barrel vault with a thickness of 0.2 m relative to the barrel radius of about 1 m. Since I am also modeling the vault as a single-curved shell with a thickness of 0.2 m, I was wondering how the transverse shear deformations, which occur in this relatively thick cross-section, are taken into account and which theory of calculation is used?

Best regards,
Sofim

The shell elements use Mindlin’s plate theory; cross section remains plane but not perpendicular to the normal axis.
