Sudden Shear Force Jump at Floor Connections by Using Design Elements (DECREATOR)

Hello everyone,

I’m currently designing shear walls and have encountered an issue when using design elements generated via the decreator. At the connections between the floor slabs and the walls, I observe a sudden jump in the shear force distribution along the design elements.

In my model, the floor slabs are connected to the walls via hinged (moment-released) connections, and the bending stiffness has been reduced accordingly. I suspect that during the internal force integration into the design elements, part of the slab forces at the cut edge might be included, which could be causing the irregular shear behavior.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
Is there a known solution or workaround to avoid this shear discontinuity at the floor-to-wall transition?

Any insights or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

i have to add. This is a seismic RSA. So the results are combined with SRSS method

Your guess could be right. To solve the problem, restrict the selection of groups for the design element.

are these the superposed results from MAXIMA?
