Is it possible to work with mechanically joined timber cross sections, such as two square timber sections connected with metal fasteners (nails, bolts, etc.)?
The basic idea is to calculate the effective stiffness of the cross-section according to EC5 B2, similar to composite CS, but with the understanding that the connection between the two parts is not rigid.
I would use two beams connected with spring elements.
Inside SOFiPLUS there is an option to define springs between tow structure lines.
