Hi everyone!
I’m trying to understand why the sum of internal forces for each element in my seismic analysis doesn’t match the base shear at the corresponding floor.
In my results, the sum of the envelope values of internal forces is about 180–200% of the floor’s base shear, whereas I’d normally expect this ratio to be around 120% or less.
Has anyone encountered this before or can explain what might cause such a discrepancy?
